Sunglasses Care Guide
A gentle cleaning routine and careful storage help keep your sunglasses ready for everyday wear. Use this guide for basic care, and follow any care instructions supplied with your particular frame or lenses.
A gentle cleaning routine
- Check for loose particles first. Do not rub a dry lens covered in sand or grit. Handle the frame gently and remove loose particles before cleaning.
- Use lukewarm water when appropriate. Unless the supplied care instructions say otherwise, gently rinse away dust. Avoid hot water and prolonged soaking. If you are unsure about a finish or coating, contact us before applying a cleaner.
- Dry with a clean microfiber lens cloth. Use light pressure and support the frame near the area you are cleaning. Avoid pushing on the lenses or twisting the bridge.
- Keep the cloth clean. A cloth that has picked up grit can transfer it back to the lenses. Follow the cloth's washing instructions and let it dry before storing it with your glasses.
For persistent marks, choose a cleaner specifically suitable for your lens material and coating. If that compatibility is unclear, ask us for guidance rather than trying a household product.
What to avoid
- Household cleaners and solvents: do not use window cleaner, acetone or other harsh chemicals on the frame or lenses.
- Rough wiping materials: avoid paper towels, tissues and clothing that may carry grit.
- High heat: do not leave glasses on a car dashboard, near a heater or in direct contact with hot water.
- DIY scratch removal: toothpaste, abrasive polish and similar methods can further damage a lens surface. Cleaning will not repair a scratch.
- Forcing a frame into shape: do not bend the bridge, temples or rimless lens fittings to correct the fit yourself.
Storage & travel
Use both hands when putting on or removing your sunglasses to avoid pulling one temple outwards. When you set them down, keep the lenses away from the surface.
Place dry glasses in a protective case before putting them in a bag. Keep keys and other hard objects separate, and avoid packing heavy items on top. Do not force the temples closed if something is obstructing them.
After a beach day, inspect the frame, hinges and cloth for sand before cleaning or packing them away. Let the glasses dry before closing the case.
When to ask for help
If a hinge becomes loose, a frame sits unevenly or a lens is damaged, stop forcing the affected part. Contact support@dessonco.com with the product name, order number if available and clear photos. We can review the issue and advise the next steps; this guide does not promise a repair or replacement service.
